Car Guys in the States when building Restomod Mustangs prefer to use a really good solid T code car as a starting point as they are generally low mileage vehicles which have been garage kept and can be found with zero body issues. Darrin Parker was of the same mind and when a family member offered him just such a Californian built Mustang he began what was to become an exceptional build.

We found this quite unique Muscle Car for sale at a Sunday morning car show in Bakersfield California about 100 miles north of the incredible mountain pass known as the Grapevine.

Chatting to Darrin was a real pleasure, he is a particularly nice kind of guy with an enthusiasm for special cars which has not dimmed over many years of building them, originally with his late father, (the Orange Stripe, in Sunset Pearl, is in honour of his Dad who drove a Chevy Bel Air in the same colour) and now as a semi-professional specialist.

The day after the show we visited Darrin at his home where his enormous family of 12 children met us in continuous “waves” which seemed would never end! They were all absolutely charming and so polite a testament to Darrin and his wife who are truly special people.

Rather like this beautiful little Pony Muscle Car which is indeed very special, the body shell was stripped and prepared for paint meticulously, the engine bay was painted in body colour which gives a very high-end look to the build.

The interior is new throughout with a host of extras which really make this Classic Mustang Restomod “Pop”, Darrin wanted to give this build a special individuality and make it stand out from the other Mustangs.

We feel he has certainly achieved his goal in every department.

The 347 Crate Motor, fitted by ourselves, has a gorgeous sound and performs really well especially with the modern 5 Speed Tremec gearbox, Power Disc Brakes and Low Profile Wheels and Tyres.

All aspects of this beautiful Restomod are special in their own way and definitely make this Classic Mustang a car that will stand out from the crowd at every set of traffic lights, any car show and every time you get behind the wheel.
