Huge Specification on this beautiful Classic 1966 Mustang Resto-mod. We had a call from one of our adverts and Carlos Balanon explained that due to a change in circumstances he had to decided to sell his dream car. A few photographs were exchanged and suddenly Adrian had committed to another 12.00-hour drive from our office in Arizona to Stockton California a stopover was needed due to Californian traffic, so the following day he arrived to view this spectacular Muscle car.

As he pulled up to an upmarket house, his usual worries of “is this going to be another waste of time, bad description” melted away. Carlos was very proud and rightly so of this stunning Mustang, it was even better than he had described it over the phone. Rock-solid underneath and was a genuine Californian car. A couple of years ago Carlos had bought this fully restored Mustang from a Mr Pat Mcloughlin from Sacramento who lived nearby. He had purchased the car in 2005, after a long search to find the perfect solid car to spend several years restoring. What a job he has done!

The exterior has been painted in Ford Lightning Blue Metallic with the Famous Shelby stripes in white which run across the Mustang. The front of the car has a Shelby front deep race spoiler and a Shelby style front grille these additions give it a mean stance if you saw this in your rear-view mirror. Sitting on 18” 225 tyres which house the perfect 18” American Racing black spoke wheels add to the presence of this Resto-Mod Mustang. Peeping through these spokes one can see the front and rear brake-disc conversion which lets anyone know this is no ordinary Classic Mustang. Under the bonnet lies a Ford V8 302 High-Performance engine with a Camshaft upgrade. A four-barrel Carburettor and Aluminium intake sit upon this engine and Long Tube Headers and dual exhaust system allow the power to breathe efficiently. A C4 Automatic Transmission gearbox and the Power steering is a modern rack and pinion steering style giving control. There is also a Mallory Electronic ignition installed for better performance and reliability. The inside of the engine compartment has been painted the same blue and quality as the rest of the car. This finish reflects the Chrome of the export brace and Monte Carlo bar. An aluminium large core radiator is there for cooling along with the thermo coupled fans. Notice the quality of the bonnet hinges these are Billet Aluminium. Edelbrock air filter and rocker covers are in place also. Inside the cockpit you will see the upgrade to the Pro CAR Elite Seats which are extremely comfortable for the long journeys, these are made for classic Mustangs in between them sits the centre armrest. All is new from headliner to soundproofing under the carpets. New dashboard with chrome metal inlay to the glove box and instrument panel with new white retro gauges. Wood rim classic steering wheel gives it that retro feel and the up-market gear shifter is very special. A large modern retro sound system is installed with an amplifier if you do not want to hear the Mustang music!

The history folder shows bills over $40k that’s without any labour charges from Pat Mcloughlin. He said he stopped putting the bills in after that as the wife had found them! He had suggested that he had spent nearer the $60k mark. The finish of this Mustang is superb and Pat we salute you!!

There is strong visual evidence of the investment when looking at the superb paint finish which includes the engine compartment, here rests a 302 High-Performance V8 with performance Camshaft which gives a marked increase in performance but still idles smoothly and is very docile in normal driving conditions. Power Rack and Pinion Steering give this Muscle Car a very positive and sure-footed feel and with Four Wheel Power Disc Brakes this Classic Mustang stops as well as it goes!

The Shelby Stripes and Spoiler give the 66 a hint of the performance this Mustang offers, and Adrian was not disappointed in any way with the car at the wheel, so much so that Adrian decided to drive the 360 miles to Long Beach.

A journey made over incredibly steep mountainous and miles of straight concrete roads which this Resto-mod devoured effortlessly.

This Mustang is not only a definite show winner but a classic that could be taken quite easily on a European Tour or to the Classic Le Mans.
