Supplied by Chas Soderstrom Ford in San Pedro California on August 10th 1967 this very high specification Classic Mustang was built at Fords San Jose Plant in CA and remained in the State for the first forty or so years.

The dry warm Californian climate has preserved this little Muscle Car so well and it’s high specification really piqued our interest when an advertisement appeared in the Phoenix area for the car. In fact, this ad was to be the start of an amazing journey across some of the most incredible roads and scenery in the Wild West.

The ad had been placed by Nathan the brother of the Mustangs owner Roger Rasmussen who actually lived in Salt Lake City Utah. Roger confirmed how good the car looked in detailed photographs he sent us and we began the journey from Phoenix to SLC to view the car.

Scenery that has to be seen to be believed unfolded again and again on the incredible drive, through canyons carved from some of the oldest rocks on our planet over miles of rolling grasslands and through high altitude dry dessert we eventually arrived at the beginning of the Rocky Mountains where Salt Lake City lies between the massive lake and the towering peaks of the Rockies.

Roger was not only a car fanatic but a truly nice guy who welcomed us with a tour of his home and car collection followed by an incredible breakfast at his favourite Diner which was just fantastic. He gave us a complete history of the Mustang which he put on paper and we think makes great reading………

“ My name is Rodger Rasmussen I am the owner of a beautiful 1967 Mustang Coupe. I bought this car as I do with many old cars as an investment, which it certainly has been. However, this car has brought much more to my life than money. During the two years, I have owned this beautiful Little Pony I have had the great pleasure of meeting a lot of fantastic people who have loved the car as I do starting with the little old lady that I bought it from. Nancy was an elderly lady that due to poor health problems could no longer drive as she sobbed and rubbed her hand over the car in such a loving manner. She told me she had bought the car in 2005 in San Jose California from a guy named Ray Stevens the actual builder of the car who by pure chance I would meet some Ten Years Later at a car show in Utah over 800 miles from his home. Ray lit up like a Christmas tree when he saw the Mustang he couldn’t believe his luck at seeing it. He told me this car saved his life.he said that he had been going through trying times in his life having just lost his wife due to an unexpected illness, Ray said he spent every waking moment working on what he called his Saving Grace (Grace) was what he called the Mustang. He told about how he put his heart and soul into Grace, how he lovingly breathed new life into an otherwise old car. he said that even though he knew he was building the car for someone else to enjoy he became consumed with making the car Perfect. Ray talked about Grace as it’s as if it were a person, not just a car, (his labour of love ) he said as we parted some 2 hours later. I can see how this beautiful little car has that effect on people, I too have genuinely enjoyed and yes even loved this Little Pony. I will be sad to see it go and will miss it a lot. I hope the new owners get as much enjoyment out of it is I did and that it too will fulfil their dreams so the legacy of the little Ford Mustang will continue to grow thank you so much
Yours Truly Roger Rasmussen.”

We have stayed in touch with Roger as he was such a genuinely nice guy and the Mustang was every bit as good as he said it was which was a relief having driven so many miles!
It is now registered for the road in the U.K. with all taxes and duties paid so why not make your appointment to view this wonderful example and become the next owner who can add his or her story to this intriguing history.
